A DRUNKEN teenager took his grandmother's car and reversed it into a taxi.
Thomas Hull, an 18-year-old waiter, of Deepdale Road, Mereside, was also seen driving the wrong way down a one way street during the incident earlier this month.

He admitted driving with excess alcohol, without insurance, not in accordance with his provisional licence and failing to stop after an accident.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Hull was seen trying to drive a Vauxhall Astra the wrong way down one-way Alfred Street, Blackpool on October 5 at around 3.35am.

As he reversed out, he hit the driver's wing of a black cab.

Hull sped off and the taxi driver followed him to Deepdale Road.

Hull told police: "I just have to go and see my grandmother, she doesn't know I have taken the car."

A breath test showed 60 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the legal limit.

Gary McAnulty, prosecuting, said his client had acted foolishly.
He had been out and got a taxi home but then decided to drive to meet friends who had gone to a club in Blackpool.

When he hit the taxi he panicked and drove away from the scene.
Hull said the taxi driver had punched him twice.

He was banned from the road for 18 months, fined £780 with £60 costs and ordered to pay a £15 victims' charge by Blackpool magistrates.
