A specialist performing arts college is set to open in a former dessert parlour right across from Blackpool North Train Station.

Blackpool Theatre Collective Ltd is taking over the ground floor space at Bickerstaffe House, which was formerly occupied by Sprinkles.

The new college, which will concentrate on musical theatre and dance, is being opened by Ian Meeson and Carl Walker, two tutors who have worked in the profession and can offer valuable industry insight.

In the coming weeks the interior of the premises will be transformed into a bespoke rehearsal space, including a sprung floor for dance work.

Then, in September, the first two-year course for students aged 16-19 years olds –offering Government-funded BTEC qualification – will begin in earnest.
