WES Hoolahan was undroppable at Blackpool.
That's not been the case at his new club.

Despite making a high-profile switch to Norwich in the summer, the left winger has already found himself axed from the starting 11 and having to make do with a few minutes from the bench.

As a result he's lost his place in the Republic of Ireland squad too.
However, far from being down in the dumps, the 25-year-old – a sub for the last four games – insists he is relishing the competition at Carrow Road and is eager to show what he can do.

"I'm happy enough, although I think I can play a lot better," said Hoolahan, whose new club are fourth-bottom of the Championship.

"I'm still just settling in and it takes time for things to happen, so hopefully by the next couple of games things will start happening.

"It's a squad game and if I am on the bench I will just be glad to get on and contribute to winning the game. Hopefully I will play my part for the rest of the season. Norwich City is a huge club. There are a lot of fantastic players here and it is a step up from Blackpool.

"I've got to adjust to that and hopefully by next year we'll be hopeful of the play-offs.

"I love a bit of competition. I think it makes you a better player, so I am enjoying that."

From one winger to another, and well done to Simon Wiles, who is enjoying life north of the border far more than he did on this side.
The 23-year-old has been making quite a name for himself at Dunfermline since joining on a one-year deal last month.

Wiles' best moment to date came when he scored in a Scottish League Cup victory over SPL outfit St Mirren.

"It' had been quite a while since I scored, so it was great to get a goal," said Wiles, whose side face Dundee United in the next round.

"I just came up here to play football and it's great to be doing that."

It was his first goal since netting for the Seasiders on Boxing Day 2005 at Port Vale.

Simon Wiles that is. Big time Charlie Hoolahan can sit on the bench for all I care.

Such a clever lad our Wes...'it's a step up from Blackpool' ... 'hopeful of the play offs'...HE CAN'T MAKE IT INTO A TEAM WHO CURRENTLY SIT BELOW US IN THE TABLE - DOH!!

I'm a great believer in what goes around comes around.

On that note also; Well done to Wilesy. Glad to see he's doing well, he's a good lad who i wish the best to.

Hoolahan, didn't make a high profile switch, he sneaked out of Bloomfield Road and showed the merenary in him. He didn't leave for football reasons it is just about money. In my opinion, and also the most over rated player ever at Bloomfield Road.

Hoolahwho?

He's gone, he's done what most people would have done and gone to a club that will pay him a lot of money. Ok he's not in the team yet, but he's got the ability to make a big impression if he gets his head down and grafts. I do not hold a grudge, he was instrumental in pulling the Pool out of the bottom 2 divisions after nearly 3 decades. He scored the winner against that lot down the road and we made a few quid on him. Good luck Wes and thanks.

AS i SAID AT THE END OF LAST SEASON BEFORE WE KNEW HE WAS LEAVING, HE IS ALL ONE FOOT, CLOSE HIM DOWN OR PUSH HIM OUT WIDE AND HE CANNOT COPE AT THIS LEVEL. ALSO HAS SUCH A WEAK SHOT, HE NEEDED TO SPEND THE CLOSE SEASON PRACTISING SHOOTING AND USING HIS RIGHT FOOT. WITHOUT THIS HE WILL NOT MAKE THIS DIVISION, WHILST IN A SIDE OR CLUB AS BIG AS NORWICH

Hate to be picky Dave, but Stuart Pearce was "all one foot" as is Ashley Cole, Graham Le Saux and even David Beckham to some degree. They've done all right. But I would also disagree that Wes is all one foot, he's the most gifted dribbler we've seen at Bloomfield Road for more than a generation and that takes more than 1 foot!

Well that's what the little idiot said!

So Wes a few questions:

Have Norwich ever won any thing apart from the Milk Cup ?

Did one of Englands 1966 side play his club football at Norwich ?

Has a European Footballer of the Year ever played for Norwich ?

Thought not - now get back on your bench !
